Medable Partners with Seqster to Integrate Real-World Patient Data Streams in Decentralized Clinical Trials
“By shifting from outdated retrieval methods to real-time data streams, pharma and biotech companies can more quickly identify potential trial participants—and help them track and share health data at scale.”
PALO ALTO, Calif. — Mar. 1, 2021 — Medable Inc., the leading cloud platform for patient-centered drug development, today announced a new partnership with Seqster to integrate real-time, real-world data streams into decentralized clinical trials.
Seqster is a healthcare technology company that has pioneered patient-centric interoperability to access secure, longitudinal, and comprehensive real-world data in real time. This includes electronic health records (EHRs), genomic data (DNA), fitness wearables data, and social determinants of health (SDOH). Medable will integrate Seqster technology into its decentralized trial platform to streamline trial recruitment and participation, resulting in efficiency and cost savings while maintaining patient data ownership, privacy, and security.
“Patients want clinical trials to fit into their real-world experience, not the other way around,” said Dr. Michelle Longmire, CEO and co-founder of Medable. “Working with Seqster, we can integrate more data sources and data streams to provide clinicians with a more holistic view of patient health, leading to higher-quality trial results while simplifying the patient experience.”
Seqster provides researchers an easy way to access patient medical records without imposing IT staff workload, making it easier to recruit, consent and re-consent trial participants. Patients can then track health data throughout the study and beyond, offering an integrated approach to outcomes analysis. The platform is FDA 21 CFR Part 11 compliant, enabling secure delivery of EHR documents directly to regulated trial management systems and allowing eConsent-based visualization of participant data.
“We’re thrilled to partner with Medable to accelerate the adoption of digital and decentralized trials,” said Ardy Arianpour, Seqster's CEO and co-founder. “By shifting from outdated retrieval methods to real-time data streams, pharma and biotech companies can more quickly identify potential trial participants—and help them track and share health data at scale.”
Medable and Seqster also partner with Datavant to integrate and link de-identified data across the entire patient journey, including electronic health records, claims, and diagnostics, as well as emerging sources such as genomics, wearable devices, socioeconomic and behavioral data and more. Combining real-time, real-world data streams that integrates an array of patient data sets with broader de-identified data pools has the potential to unlock exciting new insights in the realm of personalized medicine.
